New Bern pastor announces run for city's Ward 2 alderman seat

New Bern resident Hazel Royal has announced she will be running for the Ward 2 seat on the city’s board of aldermen in the March 8 election. The seat is currently held by Alderwoman Jameesha Harris.

Supreme Court Suspends All Candidate Filing, Moves 2022 Primary to May 17

6:12 p.m: The North Carolina Supreme Court on Wednesday suspended candidate filing for all offices for the 2022 primary election. This includes filing for rescheduled municipal contests, and any separate filing period in January for those contests.

The Supreme Court also pushed the date of the primary and rescheduled municipal elections back more than two months – to Tuesday, May 17, 2022. It had been scheduled for March 8.
